Just one song of what Rolling Stone?s

Published on July 29th, 2010no comments

Just one song of what Rolling Stone?s Debby Bull referred to as ?winsomely rocking tunes,? the album went on to produce two more hit singles with ?Walk of Life? and ?So Far Away.? Since the 80s, the title track has also been used to set the mood as background music for films and television programs (such as The West Wing and Spy Game).

A series of more than 200 Dire Straits concerts, over the course of an entire year, followed the release of the album. Philips, maker of the compact disc and owner of Dire Straits? record label PolyGram, sponsored the tour and sold more copies in the process.

Regardless of why the album sold so well, Mark Knopfler?s music didn?t simply touch a nerve with the buying public. Brothers in Arms also carved out a spot in collections and bookcases around the world as the preferred and permanent soundtrack of our lives back in the mid-1980s. Times may have changed, and the headbands may have long since been put away, but the lyrics and guitar work on this amazing album ? along with its crystal clear recording ? will live on.

Mark Knopfler is a singer, songwriter and guitar player touring in 2006 with Emmylou Harris to promote their new album “All the Roadrunning”.

An Integral part of the Ceremony

Wedding Speeches- An Integral part of the Ceremony by Jamie Hanson
in Other (submitted 2010-02-23)

Wedding speeches have been part of a wedding ceremony since time immemorial. Though many speeches have been forgettable, some have been famous speeches befitting the occasion. Creating or writing a good speech for a wedding is not an easy task. You require some help from others who know the tricks of the trade and a little preparation with a bit of creativeness. This will help you make a speech, which can be memorable.

In a nuptial ceremony, wedding speeches form an integral part of the occasion. The speech is to develop insight for both.

The bride’s father, the groom, the excellent man and maid/matron of honor normally give wedding speeches on the event. The speech could be impersonal in nature. They are allowed the freedom of injecting certain personal comments about the bride and the groom as well as wit in their speeches.

The father of the bride delivers the first wedding speech followed by the groom, the maid of honor and lastly, by the best man. Delivering his speech on this serious occasion, the bride’s father welcomes and thanks the guests for presenting themselves in his daughter’s marriage. Then he talks about the character of his daughter, her qualities, reminiscences about her childhood, narrates her achievements and skills. He then momentarily talks about his new son in law, which is rather impersonal. finally, he toasts to bothe the bride and the groom.

In response to his father in law’s speech, the groom proceeds to deliver his wedding speech

When this happens,

Published on July 28th, 2010no comments

When this happens, body organs can be affected as the circulation slows, leading to slow wound healing times and loss of feeling in the extremities. Eventually, without treatment, diabetes can progress to organ failure, especially the kidneys and heart, as well as possible blindness, strokes, and other problematic conditions.

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, ask your doctor about a personal management plan. Read all the information you can find about your condition, and ask your doctor any questions about things you don?t understand. It may be helpful to borrow library books or visit online medical Websites to find out how others cope and what types of possible new cures or treatments are on the horizon.

Your doctor may advise you to change your diet to one that is low in sugar, fat, and salt. He or she may want you to begin a daily exercise program unless you already have one.

Other articles in this series looked at

Other articles in this series looked at a number of exercises, mainly from the perspective of developing a comprehensive muscle building program. Sometimes we take things for granted, especially when it comes to performing the basic exercises that constitute the core of most bodybuilders’ training regimes.

It is useful, therefore, to describe in detail the processes involved in actually doing these exercises. This will help beginners to start out using the correct techniques before moving on to potentially more dangerous heavy weights. If it also helps more experienced lifters to redress some of the little faults that have almost imperceptibly crept in over the years, all the better.

In this article we’ll take a close look at One-Arm Dumbbell Rows.

MUSCLES TARGETED: latissimus dorsi, trapezius (mid), biceps brachialis

STARTING POSITION

Grasp a dumbbell with an overhand grip and palm facing body.

Rest your opposite knee on a flat bench.

The supporting leg should be slightly flexed with the foot flat on the floor.

The back should remain straight, parallel to the floor.

The dumbbell should be held at arm’s length.

EXERCISE TECHNIQUE

Pull the dumbbell upward in a straight line with the elbow kept close to the body.

Lower the dumbbell slowly to the starting position.

Repeat this movement until the intended number of repetitions have been completed.

Repeat on the other side.

OTHER EXERCISES WORTH CONSIDERING

Other exercises that tackle these muscles include Bent-Over Barbell Rows (mid trapezius), Chin-Ups (upper trapezius) and Lat Pull-Downs Behind the Neck (upper trapezius).

State says VFDs don’t need special coverage

0 Comments | Charleston Gazette, The, Jul 27, 2010 | by Phil Kabler

While BrickStreet Insurance plans to cancel Workers Compensation broadform coverage for more than 125 volunteer fire departments as of Sept. 1, a memo from the state Insurance Commission advises that the VFDs don’t need the coverage.

Broadform coverage protects directors and officers of VFDs from any personal liability lawsuits if firefighters under their supervision are injured or killed in the line of duty.

Last week, representatives of VFDs protested at the Capitol, warning that some fire departments may “shut the doors” rather than risk personal liability for injury claims.

A day later, Commissioner Jane Cline told lawmakers that directors and officers of VFDs don’t need the coverage, since state law gives them immunity under the Government Tort Claims Act.

Under that law, she said, officials in state government as well as all government subdivisions have immunity from lawsuits stemming from employees’ work-related injuries – unless there is proof the employer had a deliberate intent to put the employee into unsafe working conditions.

Cline said there are five steps necessary to prove deliberate intent, including evidence the employer ignored industry standards for workplace safety for the particular occupation.

Sam Love, lobbyist for the West Virginia Fireman’s Association, said Monday that Cline’s memo has not satisfied most VFD officials.

“There’s some glaring questions that jump out, including why was BrickStreet selling us broadform coverage if we didn’t need it?” he said. “There’s a lot of questions out there that I don’t think this memo leaves firemen with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

“I’m afraid where it’s going to be headed is to a court case,” he said of issues regarding potential liability of VFD directors and officers.

Earlier this year, the Insurance Commission approved a new rate schedule for BrickStreet’s Workers Compensation coverage for the more than 400 VFDs in the state.

The rate schedule, which would have increased overall premiums by more than $400,000 a year, would have doubled premiums for some departments.

In June, BrickStreet agreed to postpone the increases, which had been set to go into effect July 1, for one year.

However, under the state law privatizing Workers Compensation, BrickStreet will not be required to provide coverage to VFDs after June 30, 2011.

With BrickStreet’s claims losses exceeding $4 million a year for VFDs, President and CEO Greg Burton said at the time that no insurance companies will offer coverage to VFDs next year, unless the state takes action to resolve the huge loss ratios.

Gov. Joe Manchin appointed a work group in June to try to come up with solutions to fund VFD premiums.

By taking the time to work together

By taking the time to work together on preparation for a number of Kira?s key presentations, she benefited from her boss? thought process and was able to distinguish the critical components to enhance her own presentations. Kira?s presentations now have punch! She delivers with the confidence of someone who has great material and is well-prepared. She now rarely needs corrective feedback after-the-fact. Equally important is that in the very act of asking for help, Kira has demonstrated to her boss that she is effectively leveraging resources around her.

How are your assumptions about the appropriateness of asking for help getting in your way?

Some of us are uncomfortable asking for help because we believe that our request places burden on the other person.

There is no reason to expect

Published on July 28th, 2010no comments

There is no reason to expect that as WiFi becomes increasingly popular that WiFi phones won’t be even more intelligent.

The Skype Smartphone is currently designed to provide communications absolutely free between Skype users, and in all likelyhood will be free when using wireless hotspots, though this can’t be absolutely determined.

VoIP has faced numerous challenges and obstacles and is currently facing new rules and regulations by the FCC. Issues such as 911 and the facility to trace VoIP calls are making headline news. What the future has in store for VoIP and VoWiFi is uncertain, but major corporations are already preparing their services and developing products in anticipation that VoIP and WiFi are here to stay.

Certain security features need to be addressed and wireless networks will need to assure consumers that their data will remain secure before the world will surrender itself fully to wireless, but many people are already enjoying the cost savings from using VoWiFi phones in wireless hotspots.
